Terms of service
These terms are the agreement between you and DraftDo for the DraftDo website and app at draftdo.io and the DraftDo Companion Chrome extension (together, “DraftDo” or “the service”). By creating an account or using the service you agree to them. Our privacy policy explains how we handle your information and forms part of these terms.
What DraftDo is
DraftDo is a workspace for understanding assignments and building editable drafts. You add an assignment, DraftDo analyses it and builds an outline and a draft, and you review, edit, approve, and finish the work yourself, including in Google Docs. DraftDo Companion, our Chrome extension, sends assignment instructions from webpages to your account and writes your approved drafts into text editors and Google Docs documents when you ask it to. It never submits anything on your behalf.
Your account
You need an account to use DraftDo. Keep your sign-in details to yourself and tell us if you think someone else is using your account. You must be at least 13 years old, and old enough to enter into this agreement where you live, or have a parent or guardian’s permission.
Your work and your responsibility
Assignments you add, and the drafts you make from them, remain yours. You give DraftDo permission to store and process them only to provide the features you use, as described in the privacy policy. Outlines and drafts are suggestions produced with AI systems; they can be wrong, incomplete, or unsuitable, and you are responsible for reviewing, editing, and approving everything before you use it. You are also responsible for the work you submit to your school or institution, including following its rules on acceptable help.
Acceptable use
- Don’t add content you have no right to use.
- Don’t use the service to break the law or your institution’s academic policies.
- Don’t try to disrupt, overload, reverse engineer, or gain unauthorised access to the service.
- Don’t share one account between several people.
Subscriptions and payment
Paid plans are sold by DraftDo, not by Google or any app store. The plans, their prices, and what each includes are shown on the pricing page. Every plan includes access to the DraftDo Companion extension and an allowance of drafts and exports for each billing period; the allowance resets when the period renews and unused allowance does not carry over. Payment is taken in advance for each billing period (weekly, monthly, or annually, depending on the plan) through Stripe, our payment processor, and taxes are added where required. Prices may change; we will tell you before a change applies to your next renewal.
Renewal and cancellation
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from your account’s billing settings. Cancelling stops future charges; your plan stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for, and then ends. The extension stops working when your plan ends and starts working again if you subscribe again.
Refunds
If you are a consumer in the European Union, the United Kingdom, or another place that gives you a legal right to withdraw from a purchase within a set period, you have that right. Because DraftDo starts providing the service as soon as you subscribe, you may be charged for the part of the period you used before withdrawing, where the law allows this. Apart from those legal rights, payments already made are not refunded when you cancel part-way through a billing period. If something goes wrong with a charge, or the service did not work for you, contact us at support@draftdo.io and we will look at it.
Third-party services
Google Docs, and any website you write a draft into, are governed by their own terms and policies. Payments are handled by Stripe under Stripe’s terms. AI processing is provided by OpenAI under its API terms. DraftDo is not responsible for those services.
Ending your account
You can stop using DraftDo at any time and ask us to delete your account and data as described in the privacy policy. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, that is used for abuse or fraud, or where the law requires it; if we do, we will tell you why where we reasonably can, and any prepaid period you cannot use because of our action will be refunded.
Warranties and liability
DraftDo is provided as it is and as available. We do not promise that drafts will be correct, that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that it will meet the requirements of any particular assignment or institution. To the extent the law allows, DraftDo is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, for lost grades or opportunities, or for any amount above what you paid for the service in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights that consumer law gives you and that cannot be limited by agreement.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service changes. When we do, we update the date at the top of this page, and for material changes we tell you in the app or by email before they take effect. If you keep using DraftDo after that, the updated terms apply.
